Frequently asked questions:

What is ISFiT?

ISFiT is the world’s largest international student festival, and is arranged in Trondheim every second year. 500 participants from over 100 different countries come to Norway to attend the festival. This year's theme is migration.

Can anyone be a host?

Absolutely! As long as you live in Trondheim and have extra bed, sofa or floor space.

What do you need to be a host?

All we are asking from you is to supply the participants with a place to sleep (mattress/bed/pull out couch etc.), and a plain breakfast (toast/cereal etc.). Apart from this, anything extra you wish to provide them with is your choice.

When will the participants arrive?

February 6th. They will arrive continuously all through the day, morning to night. We would prefer it if you could be available by phone when your participant arrive in Trondheim. We will know the exact arrival time of each participant closer to the festival, when they have all bought their tickets. If you are housing several participants you can pick them all up at once.

Do I have to be available for the participants 24/7?

Absolutely not. The participants will have a packed schedule all through the day. They will also get all the information, supplies and food they need from ISFiT. You will only be contacted if something special were to happen. Whether you have the time to eat breakfast with the participant(s) is up to you. You may be able to eat with them every morning, or maybe just a couple of days, or you may never have the time. It’s fine either way.

Is it possible to put in a preferances?

Yes it is possible! You can add language, gender and other preferances into your registration form. We have to inform that we cannot guartee that your wish will come true, but we will do our best.

Do I have to live in Trondheim city?

No, you do not have to live in the middle of Trondheim. As long as there is good bus connection and is in Trondheim county you can be a host. The participant will have free access to the buses so they will get used to taking the bus.

Can the hosts participate in any events during the festival?

There will be arranged a special gathering for all our hosts at Samfundet during the festival on Februarry 14th (time to be announced). Here you will have the opportunity to get to know and share your experiences with other participants and their hosts. The culture program will also be open for everyone and you may check out the event program at and purchase tickets here.

For how long do I have to house the participant(s)?

The participants will arrive Februrary 6th and the last day of the festival is February 17th, and they will return home on February 18th.
